Hello!  I'm Gemise Jackson, Founder of P.E.C.S. Development Home Day Care; thank you so much for your interest in P.E.C.S.  For the past 15 years, I have dedicated my career to providing a nurturing, supportive, fun, and safe environment for children in the early childcare field.  Utilizing my experiences from Chicago Park District, University of Chicago Child Development Center, and Loyola University Preschool I created the P.E.C.S. learning structure to allow your little ones to grow physically, emotionally, cognitively, and socially; we accomplish this by utilizing 4 types of play: exploratory (infants), relational (young toddlers), symbolic (older toddlers), and constructive (2 yr old and up).  So let me share a bit more about our learning structure below:

Art /Music

Art and Music helps develop language/communication & cognitive development , social emotion skills, and self expression. With P.E.C.S., children are able to blossom through signing songs, listening to music, art projects, visually appropriate materials and access to age appropriate art and music supplies.

Mathematics

Math is an important part of early years because children begin to develop problem solving skills, measure and develop their own spatial awareness, and it teaches them how to use and understand shapes. Children are able to learn rote counting, one-to-one correspondence, patterns, shapes, colors, numbers and understand quantities trough finger play, books, everyday mathematics, and developmentally appropriate toys.

Language

Language development supports aspects of development like cognitive, social and literacy development. Children are able to understand how the sounds within language works together. Children will develop language through songs, story time, handwriting without tears curriculum and access to various developmentally appropriate toys.

Outdoor Play / Movement

Children will develop their large motor skills as well as explore their curious side through outdoor exploration and movement. This is important because children gain strength and confidence in their bodies. It sets the foundation for your child's ability to do more complex skills in the future. Children are able to explore the world around them through outdoor walks, play, run, jump, etc..., while developing those gross motor skills.
